He reveals his playing cards and is paid double his stake by the banquier without waiting for the tip of the spherical until the banquier also has twenty-one during which case no money changes arms. If the banquier scores twenty-one right away, every punter pays him double his stake until he, too, has twenty-one by which case he merely 'pays' in his cards. A pair of 4s should not be cut up either, as a total of eight is a good number to attract to. Generally, 2s, 3s, or 7s may be split except the vendor has an 8, 9, ten-card, or ace. Finally, 6s shouldn't be break up until the dealer's card is poor (2 via 6).
